The Business Case for Criminal Justice Reform

At a time when Americans seem to be more divided than ever, criminal justice reform has emerged as an area where we overwhelmingly agree. In Michigan, politicians on the right and left back reforms such as Clean Slate, which expands access to expungements, and the proposals of the jails task force, which would transform our system of county jails. These proposals have a wide base of support, from criminal justice reform advocates to faith leaders and tax reformers. Watch to find out why business leaders are also on board.

Our Chief Executive Celia Ouellette provided introductory remarks to an exemplary panel, cohosted by RBIJ and Safe and Just Michigan focusing on why criminal justice reforms such as Clean Slate were critical to Michigan businesses and economic recovery overall. Speakers included:

Moderator: John S. Cooper, Executive Director, Safe & Just Michigan

Panelists: Jahaun McKinley, Senior Lean Manufacturing Manager, Cascade Engineering Jeffrey Korzenik, Chief Investment Strategist, Fifth Third Bank Jon Meyer, Assistant Production Manager, Abcor Industries Tammy Britton, Workforce Development Project Manager, Talent 2025
